Tamino Partners bring together two
experienced executive search boutiques.
Tamino Partners was founded in 2012 to bring together the Professional Services expertise and market reach of
3 long time Executive Search professionals: Jennifer Lewis-Larcher, Ansgar Dierkes and Nikolaus Pohlschröder.
Each of us came to Executive Search more than ten years ago after successful careers in banking, strategy
consulting and entrepreneurial management. Each of us has successfully built a reputation and a personal net-
work in the Professional Services industries. Finally, each of us believes that significant synergies will develop
when strong individual performers come together to collaborate on building a bigger and better joint position.
One important point that differentiates us as individuals in the Executive Search industry is that we all are ‘natural
collaborators’ who believe in the strength of the team over that of the individual. We enjoy working together
and recognize and respect each other’s special strengths and contributions to framing and executing demanding
searches and helping our clients bring together the best people and the best teams for their own businesses.

When the search industry emerged in the
late 1960’s, information about potential
candidates wasn’t easy to come by.
Firms like Spencer Stuart and Heidrick & Struggles grew rapidly, providing excellent service off
of shared information. In the 1980s, the industry saw great advances in delivery times and service
levels after the introduction of networked PCs and proprietary databases.
The chief beneficiaries of this trend were the larger firms, driving consolidation. By the late 1980s
five global competitors had emerged, each with a cadre of experienced professional search consultants
and a global network of wholly-owned offices. The advantages of well-known brands and shared
information clearly out-weighed the disadvantages in client service driven by tight off-limits situations.
Search in the Internet Age
Search in the Internet Age
In the 1990’s the dynamics of the executive search industry began to change. Internet search
engines made information access faster and cheaper. Open online networks provided a completely
new source of information about companies, potential candidates and sources.
Quickly, the central databases which had been so important in the growth of the large executive
search firms became less and less of a differentiator. Today, they are of minor importance.
With this change came a new phenomenon: Experienced search professionals, individually
or in small groups, began to break away from larger firms to found specialized search boutiques
characterized by focus, agility and low overheads. Their success proved that often individual
competence, experience and market knowledge were more important to sophisticated clients
than brand name and long reference lists of searches done in far-away markets.
The Emergence of the Search Industry Current Trends
Current Trends
Currently, we are seeing the large players in the industry try to defend their relevance to clients
by getting even bigger and offering an ever broader range of services in addition to executive search
– management assessment, succession planning, HR advisory, etc. At the other end of the spectrum,
boutiques are discovering opportunities for new forms of collaboration.

Our Expertise
We understand professional services businesses and what makes a great performer in those environments.
Primarily, we use this understanding to help ambitious professional services firms to recruit top notch
staff and Partners from their direct competition. In this segment, there is no substitute for doing it yourself –
each of us is directly involved in executing search assignments: finding the right people, discussing with them
the opportunities in our clients’ organizations, bringing the two sides together and working with both sides
to facilitate fair and productive discussions and the selection and hiring of the best candidates.
